Independent amplifier on stock sub with bass control?

Default Independent amplifier on stock sub with bass control?
as you all know our sound system is muffled when turning up the bass. I was thinking of cutting off the subwoofer from the stock amp and adding a independent amp to it to solve this issue along with a bass control ****.
Many thoughts on this?

That's a good idea. A lot of us have done that .
i myself left the stock subwoofer in place and tapped onto it
