Default Power Rear Sunshade Retrofit

Hello all,

I have been looking through the forums in regards to retrofitting the power rear sunshade on our cars, however, I can't find a straight forward answer whether or not it is in the realm of possibility (i.e. not having to take half the car apart and running wiring).

Through my research, I've noted the harness for the sunshade should already be there, the only things that are needed are the sunshade itself, the button that goes in the dash, and the new plastic piece thats under the rear glass (the shelf from what I've seen people call it).

Can anyone provide some insight into this?

Wouldn't it be cheaper if you just tint the back window?

My windows are already tinted, so really I want to do this just to be able to have the option in my car. I really just want to gauge the difficulty and potential cost of the whole retrofit.

Interesting. I’d like to see if this project goes well for you. I wouldn’t mind having the shade too.

Take mine. Easily the most useless option in my vehicle.

I had some press on shades on a prior BMW from a british company. I checked their website and don't see any Lexus available, but maybe you can hunt around to see if another company does it for Lexus

I've done it to my 2017 IS350. Wiring was already there, was just plug and play. Got sunshade, rear deck and switch from salvage vehicle

Do you happen to have a picture of the plug that connect to the sunshade?

Didn't take a pic sorry, but if you look behind switch panel (the one with parking sensor switch etc) there should be a spare blue connector to plug into sunshade switch. Much easier to check that than pull rear deck apart

Does your sun shade rear deck consist of two pieces or one pieces? I'm trying to source all the part that need to retrofit the shade assembly.
