Replacing OEM Tires on 2016 is 200t f-sport
Hi,
So I have just had my car for about a month and I blew out one of my front tires. The tires on there are the oem tires which are BRIDGESTONE TURANZA ER33. I noticed that he tires have a lip that sticks out further that the rim which looks like it will protect it from some rim damage. My question is if its worth purchasing the same tire or should I look into something different. One of my concerns is is that tire design really helps protect your rims? Also, are they worth the price. I think each tire is 210.00 each for the front. I was looking at some Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S for about 130.00 each. Would like any advice and guidance on the next steps on getting same tires or just getting something different that might be better and maybe even more affordable.
Thank you for reading,

Tire preference is very subjective but I think most will agree that the OEM tires are way overpriced and crappy - Sure that nice little lip helps but trust me, you are far better off being careful to avoid curb rash and get better tires.
Here are good tires - The Michelin (top rated) are apparently a bit hit or miss with 'humming' but this is a good place to start....but avoid the OEM tires

wthrman2, thank you for the info and the chart. That was really helpful for sure. And I think you are right, a better performing tire is probably a better choice and forgoing the lip and just being a more cautious driver would do the trick. Thanks again and I look forward to being active on this forum space with my new car.

I’m currently running Firestone Firehawk Indy 500’s on my car and I am really happy with them.

After watching the video of top 3 Ultra High Performance All Season tires, I picked up a set of Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus.

Just wanted to circle back with everyone. After the suggestions on oem tires and doing a bit a research i went ahead and purchased Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S for about 130.00. I have been driving on them for a few months now and I cannot complain. I think the ride is much better than the oem offered tires but I am also making a comparison with tires that were much more worn and not new. As far a wear is concerned, I would say its to early to tell but would imagine I would get about double the life of the oem tire which were BRIDGESTONE TURANZA ER33..

Curious, are Michelin Pilot Super Sport's or PS4's popular on the IS? I ran the PSS's on one of my old cars and they were far and away better than any other high performance tire I've tried...or is it just too expensive for most people? (I wouldn't think given we're on a Lexus board).

+1 on the firehawk 500s. great bang for the buck and extremely sticky. This is coming from someone who used to drive a modified (for track/canyon) BMW with Michelin PSS.
