I took my IS200t in for service on some issues it has been having, and was given a 2018 IS300 for a loaner car. I was so quick to leave the house in a rush this morning for work that I brushed up against the curb of my apartment's parking lot like an idiot and did this:
I am sure many people here have gotten curb rash, but has anyone ever messed up a loaner car, or anything similar to this? I would like to know how much this is going to lighten the wallet before I return it on Monday. Needless to say, I am quite mad at myself.
I doubt they will care. At some point that car will get door dings and small bumper scrapes. maybe wash that part of the tire (rinse it) so it doesn't appear too obvious that its new.
We rented a car in Tahoe and it snowed. There was no snow brush and the
windows were completely obscured. I took an aluminum soft drink can and
fought my way through the ice and frost. Seemed OK until the next day and
the glass was really f#$%ed up! Streaks of aluminum glaze everywhere...
Lucky for us the Rental Turn-in agent was blind or oblivious and didn't say
a word despite the glaringly abused appearance.
I wouldn't mention it. No way to prove that was prior to your usage
The person handing you the loaner keys does a walk around the vehicle with you, marking the places on the paperwork where there is already damage or dings...
That's your proof.

Not sure about other dealers, but they do not do that at mine.
When you pick up the loaner, they hand you the key, walk you out just far enough to see it, point to which one is yours, and send you on your way. When you return it, you park it in the drive, walk in, give them the keys, and leave with your car.

Interesting, I would think they all would for legal purposes. I know my dealership walks around the vehicle with you so you both can note any scratches, dings, dents and cracks on the vehicle so when you return it you wont get nailed for something you didn't do.
