Automatic Door Unlock
My 2015 IS 350 has a feature that when you touch, or pull on the door handle the door will either lock or open. I had some minor body work done and think that the battery was disconnected. Now the "soft touch" feature will not work. Called the dealer and they want $140 just to "look" at it. I am certain that there is a tool that connects to the ODB II connector that will solve this problem. I'm taking it to the body shop, he says he needs both key FOB's.
Have any of you had this issue? Is it easy to fix? or is a "special tool" required?
If I am right and a "special tool" that connects to the ODB II connector is needed, the reprogramming should take less than 10 minutes.

Can you describe what bodywork was done?
The touch feature to unlock works off the inside of the handle when you grab it.
The touch feature to lock is the two indents on the top front of the handle.
If neither are working, then is it possible the handle is not connected inside the door? Was the handle removed for the bodywork?
Or possibly the oscillator that detects the key is either unplugged or damaged?
If the feature was working before the body work, then it's not going to need keys. Worst case the battery in the key is dead. But if you can get inside the car and start it with the key in your pocket, then the keys are fine.
Don't worry about any special tools at this point...the fix is likely something simple and mechanical.
