Default Swapping TPMS to after market wheels

Hey guys,

Kind of a stupid questions, but if I were to reuse my OEM TPMS, do I need to do the swap prior to mounting tires on new aftermarket rims of does it not matter?

Debating if I should buy wheel/tire package (tires are pre mounted/balanced) or buy them each separately.

Thanks !

it doesn't matter but if you don't replace before then you'll get a dash light pop on.

So it's best to swap the OEM TPMS into the new rims BEFORE mounting/balancing tires.

Yes, because the sensors are installed on the inside of the rim that protrudes outward and you would have to mount and balance your new wheels twice. Just a note, aftermarket TPMS clones are not overly expensive, if you're doing a two wheel set (winter wheels).

I only need one set of TPMS, cause California. =]

Im gonna end up doing this at the dealership, I'm sure they will know how to do it. But, I'll make sure they do the swap prior to mounting/balancing tires.

Can you recommend which ones I should pick up?
