Steering wheel replacement cost?
So I was driving down the highway this morning and someone cut in front of me without looking and almost hit me so I blew the horn, and the horn got stuck on and I had to pull over on the side of the highway and turn the car on and off to get the horn to stop. Now the mode buttons and gauge cluster button on the right side of the steering wheel aren't working anymore. Used the diagnostics menu in the navi and confirmed the buttons aren't recognized when pressed. I found the part through Lexus parts website for $400 but I'm wondering approximately how much a Lexus dealer would charge to install it? (I'm assuming it's just pulling the steering wheel out, hooking the new part up, and putting the steering wheel back in). If it's just an hours labor or so I wouldn't mind paying Lexus to do it, but if it's like $1000 I'd rather do it myself.
TLDR: Approximately how much would Lexus charge to replace the steering wheel control module?
Thanks

I'm currently at 51,9xx miles and my front 2 door lock actuators just went out. I took my vehicle into the dealership and was given an estimate of $1400 to replace them both. They weren't able to put it under warranty so I called the lexus customer service line and put in a request to speak with a case manager. It took 4 days for them to review my case, but Lexus eventually got back to me stating that they would authorize the full repair for me. If I were you I'd take it into the dealership first to get an estimate, then call Lexus and explain the situation. Make sure to tell them the EXACT estimate amount. If your estimate is $629 and you tell Lexus "it's like $600" then the authorization will get approved for $600 and you will have to pay the additional $29 out of pocket. I made this mistake, but I'm not going to complain over $29. Good luck.

So I wasn't able to get in with the dealer right away to have them look at it, but I'm bringing the car in on the 26th. After researching a bit more it seems like it may be the clockspring that went bad. The dealer did tell me it's going to be an $85 diagnostic fee because the car is outside of warranty, and then they would give me an estimate and I can decide whether I want to go thru with the repair (they did mention it may be free if it's an easy fix). Anyone have any suggestions on how to approach this to get them to consider good-willing the repair? Not sure if I should ask the dealer or call straight to Lexus corporate? I bought the car out of state used so I don't have the advantage of the dealer being the place I purchased the car. However, I have been very pleased with the service at the dealer so far and have been considering upgrading to a GS possibly the end of next year which I would be glad to buy from them (not gonna lie though... I came from a VW and got the Lexus because I thought it'd be more reliable... this is my first Lexus and this has me second guessing whether I want to buy another one). Car is still only at 51,400 now so it's literally just outside of warranty mileage-wise (and still within the warranty period timewise... time-wise the warranty would still be good until like May of next year).
Thank you
