Default Gas pump keeps stopping when tank not full

For some reason the gas pump keeps stopping multiple times when tank is not even full yet no matter which gas station I goto. Happens when I set the trigger latch and when I hold it manually. What could be the problem? Is250 f-sport 2014

I don’t know what causes the problem but it has happened to me a couple of times as well.

Quick fix is to either angle the pump nozzle higher or turn it upside down.

Yeah, i have the same problem. I’ve tried every angle, different flow rates. Nothing seems to help. It’s worse at Costco pump. 2015 IS 350.

I think it has something to do with the nozzle itself, somehow it’s detecting your tank is full. I have a Chevron by my house and only 1 of their pumps do that in mine. 2014 IS250

This is not normal and it should be because of the tank ventilation valve, which doesn't let the fuel gases escape the tank, thus triggering the nozzle to think the tank's full.
I had the same issue on my diesel BMW.

I've had this happen to me a number of times. I try to angle the nozzle differently and that seems to help.
