This actually is untrue where IS is concerned, leather is very uncommon in this particular Lexus. When I was looking for leather-upholstered IS there were only a few such cars in the whole US.
This spec sheet for 2018 doesn't have luxury package and this could be worrisome for someone looking for leather, wood interior trim, whether this spec is complete/final - impossible to tell.

while i generally agree with you, i highly doubt that at any one moment there were a few within all of the US. the luxury package isn't terribly common, but it's common enough to have inventory past a few at any given time.

Two dealers were doing search for me, there was only one (ONE) in California, there were a few on the east cast - literally you could count them on one hand.

Yes, 2018 model year IS will not have leather seats as an option. As others have pointed out, non-FSport IS models are not big sellers for Lexus. Plus I find that market (younger buyers) don't care if the seats are real or fake leather anyways. In fact, most prefer the Nuluxe as it is more durable and doesn't crack like real leather. And on another positive side, it will make the vehicle more affordable for consumers.

As to "durability" of Nuluxe we have seen plenty of counterexamples here.

Nope. You are incorrect.

MOST IS models have that Nuluxe crap.

Hence why I am looking at going to the ES with the UL package.

My 2010 IS has the upgraded butter-soft semi-aniline leather with the luxury package (had it since it was new), and its the only thing stopping me from getting a new IS.

Hmm, I wouldn't think going to the ES would be a good idea for an IS driver, unless you're looking for a different driving experience. Somewhat off-topic, I know, but I've driven the new ES a couple of times now. While comfortable, it's not in the same league as the IS in terms of driving feel. However, if you are looking for more luxury, do go and try the ES. I would say I liked the car for what it was, just not my style overall.

I got lost in translation. I consider nuluxe to be just as comfortable as leather so I thought he was implying there would be clothe in the 18'

I don't think the point here is what is comfortable (for some cloth is equally comfortable) but to avoid using misleading terminology that lead to misunderstanding. Nuluxe is Nuluxe and leather is leather.

Maybe not what's comfortable excuse me, allow me to elaborate... some could mistake nuluxe for leather, no? Most people don't know or ask if it's real leather, they assume, quacks like a duck must be a duck. Real leather matters to others more than I thought, either way sorry for the dragged confusion. Nuluxe is nuluxe, leather is leather and clothe is clothe

I had my '16 IS for about 2 years now. The Nuluxe in my car looks spanking new. Only for minor creases like you would see in real leather. No cracks or rips.

If you take care of your stuff, fake or real, it would not matter.

Just talked to my guy at the Lexus dealer and he also told me that there will not be any leather offered in the 2018 IS model line.

This is just nuts!!!

I also went and looked at and test-drove a 2018 Acura TLX, both A-Spec and non A-SPec.
