What kind of noises should I expect to hear from the car. I am pretty much used to the 4 cylinder engine, but it seems when I accelerate hard (maybe 3,000 plus rpm's) that I hear a "cha cha" type of sound right when the transmisdion shifts. Is this normal? Car has 1200 miles and has made that sound prerty much since day 1.

Maybe that the turbo noise releasing the air? Do you have a recording of the sound it's making? It's hard to tell by "Cha cha" lol

 

It's all normal. All and every sound you hear is all normal part of the turbo. Just enjoy the car.
