Long story short. On my way home, I changed lanes on the freeway and ran over something. When I got out of my car to check, I saw this long sharp thing stabbed under my car... It punctured under the driver side side skirt?
I kind of don't want to fix it, but I think I need to fix it because I think the bottom is exposing the door sill. If it's on a rainy day, I'm sure the water will go in the door sill and that will damage the door sill lights....
How much do you think it will cost to get this fixed/replaced the side skirt? Or let me know what needs to be replaced Sorry the images are huge. You probably need to Ctrl - mouse scroll out.

If I use my insurance to fix this, will my insurance go up? lol
I hate seeing this like this happen... the worse part is that the city knows about this crap but they do nothing about it...
As for your car, take it to a body shop and get a quote to fix it, it shouldn't be that hard to do. I would do that before calling the insurance company, since your insurance will more than likely go up. The only way to know for sure, if it will go up or not, is by calling them
I can't tell if your rear door is dirty or damaged from the photo. Regardless, get a quote from a reputable shop before going through the insurance.
Looks like you got lucky snd mostly only plastic damaged. Best to pull sideskirt off and inspect further to know rot sure. The running boards metal looks like it got dented only
If you file a claim, they'll write to either repair or replace that steel section. So that'll drive costs up considerably as that whole side sill needs to be painted which probably means the entire rear fender leading to the a pillar. If the car is leased, they'll expect this to be fixed.
Either way yikes. good it didnt come up through the floor. floor is paper thin and nothing really protecting you. we all take that for granted that we're not as protected as we think by cars.
The windshield is pretty stout on cars though. it can take a hell of an impact to breach the windshield. Something like that would easily bounce off. (too light/wide)
now something long and sharp and heavy like a pole or maybe a ladder going fast enough would go through easier.

The rear fender is actually one piece all the way to the A pillar along with the roof and the other side. If it's a good shop, they will most likely want to respray clear coat over the whole panel, which will be expensive.
Just so we're clear, the insurance does not go up right away. It goes up upon renewal or when you shop elsewhere for insurance, that claim will have an impact on your premium.
