Don't worry you don't need it.
Just get alignment to correct Toe and you should be fine.
thanks! i'm pretty good at asking for an alignment to be done and the shop that is installing the coilovers doesn't allow a customer to install suspension parts without also doing an alignment. if the customer refuses, then the shop asks the customer to take their business elsewhere.
Personally I would just do everything "correct" the first time while getting the alignment done. You dont need it if the camber is under -2. But if it is over I would suggest you get it. And you probably are over -2 with a coilover.

yep, i will get an alignment as per the shop's requirements and i am slightly over -2 with the down springs so i don't know where i'll be once the coilovers are installed.

Reason: clarification
Toe eats tires faster than Camber
Most people mistaken toe wear for Camber
If a car is Toe is proper but with a tiny bit of camber, The tire will last almost as long as a car with Zero camber.
You do not want a car to be zero camber for cornering purposes.
Most performance cars have a bit of camber already dialed on purpose from factory.

thanks for the clarification -- really informative!
Thats true, but most performance cars have more camber in the front than rear. You would need at least -3 in the front to compensate for -2 camber in the rear. Or you will just have massive understeering. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a coilover.
And yes it is not a big deal. But if you have coilovers and why not set the alignment the correct way?
