Default Need Some Input- 2015 IS250 Fsport AWD, 18k miles, Brake Pads and Rotors Gone!!! WOW!

Hi Lexus Community!!!!!

I def need some input on this current situation,

I live in NYC, 30-year-old, non-aggressive driver.
My 2015 IS250 Fsport AWD, 18k miles already required 2 (rear tires) new brake pads and the rotor were damaged as well. How is that possible, the cars only has 18k miles........

I didn't hear any noise until like a week ago driving from Connecticut to NYC. after the drive, I heard a loud swooshing noise (dishwater machine sound) from the rear tires. I brought it into a friend's shop and found out the brake pad was finished and rotor was shot. long story short, how could that have happened if I am a non-aggressive driver and I only drove 18k miles on it. I rotate my tires every 5k miles as well. thank you for listening. if its a defect... How can I prove that?

Welcome to the forum,

It is a known issue with these vehicles. Brakes lasts average 20k miles since they are high performance pads and tires are rated at 140 tread wear which is very low. I just changed my brakes and tires at 18k miles as well on my IS350 F Sport.

BTW, you can't rotate these wheels since they are staggered setup.

Yeah, I've seen around where pads need to be changed around 15-20k for most drivers. Not sure on the rotors though...

Brake pads and rotors don't last very long on F Sport models.

OP has AWD which would have a square set up no? So he would be able to rotate his tires without any issues.

Well...

My 2015 IS250 Fsport AWD
He has an F Sport, which has staggered tires even on AWD, unless OP has his own custom wheels/tires.

A simple solution is to ask for the non-Fsport pads. I'm getting ~40k miles out of my standard oem pads.
Also all IS models with 18" wheels have staggered setup, including AWD. Make sure your alignment is good because I'm at 50% wear my oem bridgestones at 20k miles.

These kind of complaints baffle me. This is normal. You guys do not drive Priuses. you want performance, there's a price to pay. Things that perform wear out faster. It's why fighter jets need so much maintenance.

I have the exact same issue minus the breaks. My front tires are bald. Need replacing asap. Staggered set up awd f sport.

Breaks just started squeaking but they are dirty.
