It is starting to bug me that our 14-16 navigation screen is so small, huge boarder, not touch screen, and so outdated.
I have an idea, but not sure if it will work.
I found some space behind our current navigation screen, and think I could hide some n52 neodymium magnets. Giving it 5.94 lb of pull force per magnets.
Not sure if it will be strong enough to stealthly hold on to an ipad or an android tablet.
Our navigation screen + bezels measure is 10.5 inch wide x 4.25 inch tall, with 0.25 lip hovering over our display (pointed by the green arrow)
Using an ipad with a height of 5.31 inch will have a slight gap due to the lip (pointed by the green arrow), I wish I knew if the magnets will hold the iPad in place.
If this works, we can mount our iPads without any hardware that obstructs lexus's interior design (iPad will stick out 1.06 inch taller then our current navigation screen.
Let's say you are able to mount a tablet there? What use is the tablet? Unless you pay for 4G LTE on your tablet or hotspot from your phone, it will be virtually useless in terms of apps to use during a drive. I'm guessing majority will be a Map application.
Also, it would be hard to nagivate the tablet, as it is touch screen only, and it sits pretty far away from the driving position.
Cool concept, would like to see it in action though.

Yes I would use hotspot from my phone.
I plan to use it for maps, and some video streaming.
