Rear Shock broke - IS 250 F sport
Guys I just went into the stupidest pothole while doing 40 mph. it was like 1.5 inch deep but the also had a lateral incline to it. since then I'm hearing this awrful squeak from rear passenger side at low speeds. specially when I hit any small bumps (weirdly it is silent when hitting big bumps or potholes). I also tried a test. when I press hard on the trunk with my hands as well same noise comes out. looking at the car looks fine (haven't opened the tire to look at it yet). even ride quality and handling and steering have not changed.
am I looking at changing my rear shocks? can any body tell me if the code for IS 250 F sport? is it the same as the non F-sport? or is it the same as 200t or 350?
could it be something getting misplaced that can be fixed by fixing the bolts again? (That's what I'm hoping badly)

1.5" is nowhere enough to cause a shock to blow. In that case, my shocks wouldve been blown before lunch! If they are blown, it's a coincidence. Could be a mount or something. You'll have to inspect.

When I had blown shocks on my last car, it handled noticeably different driving down the road -- felt uncontrolled in the back, I could tell it was the shocks in how the rear was not dampened and was bouncing around. You'll have to check them, see if they're leaking, maybe even have a shop do it if necessary.

So took the car to a shop. turned out it wasn't the shocks nor the mounts. there is this metal cover behind the brake discs which is supposed to protect it? well so it did. the mechanic told me most probably something was thrown towards the disk and disfigured the cover plate so hard that it had started rubbing against the mounts and back of the disc brake! (don't know how)
here is a pic of the part that was causing the noise (the left arrow) (Ignore the ? marks as I was sending that pic to someone to ask questions while at the shop)
you can see that the gap between the black plate and the disc brake it self is not uniform due to the hit and that caused the horrible noise
Im really glad it wasnt the shocks and the total cost was just 40 bucks for labor. (they forced it to its original shape... well almost).
the mechanic did suggest me to have my camber angles checked tho. would probably do it at the next service.
thanks for all the Replies!
