Compared to VW's DSG, our paddles will feel sluggish but remember we do not have a dual clutch system. For a normal automatic transmission, these cars shift amazingly. I love the sound of the pauses betweens shifts and the downshifts. I have driven manual many times and I absolutely would pick this car over a manual.
Thanks! I have 1000kms on the car now and have been having some fun with the paddle shifters! It's a different power band than I'm used to (last 3 cars have been 4cyl turbos) but I'm loving the smooth power delivery, no lag and that engine sound at about 4k RPM! Why wouldn't they use a DSG though? I also don't understand why they wouldn't use auto stop/start when you're at a light to save fuel. Either way, loving the car.

Yeah. This is my first 6 cylinder. Had 2 turbo cars, S4 V8, and a couple 4 cylinders. Love the sound of the 6 pot.
I'll be honest, you're gonna miss it but you'll get used to it. It's much more boring driving an automatic, even with the paddle shifters but the handling and drive of the car makes it very enjoyable. Sometimes, you find yourself looking for a place to put your hand since shifting is no longer necessary XD
