Default Straight pipe or midpipe?

As the title states, which would be a better route to go. Getting a catless midpipe or just straight piping it? Pretty much the same thing but I guess getting a midpipe is the "proper" way?

I went with Invidia midpipe and it sounds really good.

Midpipes do not remove your cats. It just gets rid of the stock resonators. Whether you pay for an Invidia or you have an exhaust shop remove your stock resonators and just put a section of pipe in its place it will literally be the same thing except you can tell people you have an Invidia Midpipe.

I had an Invidia on my 2IS but decided to save a few hundred and go custom on my 3IS.

I currently have a Tsudo axle back and resonators are deleted. Tsudo says their midpipe is catless so I assumed the secondary cats are gone? Didn't know the midpipe had the resonator on it

There's two resonators in the midpipe. There's another two closer to the front (under the #10) but I don't know if those are secondary cats or resonators. I believe it is another two resonators.

The parts under #10 are secondary cats that are not monitored by the computer...so if you remove them the ECM won't know.
Also the pic above is for an IS200T I believe as there is only a single pipe going to the engine...it should be two pipes, one each going to each bank of the V6.
However from the secondary cats and backwards the exhaust systems are basically the same between the 200t, 250, 300, 350.

So I'm short term, I should go with a catless midpipe versus just removing the cat?

I would go catless midpipe because if you ever want to sell it down the line, you can return it to stock
