I've got a friend that is trading in this IS for the RCF, he has the fsport intake installed and was wondering if I wanna swap my stock for his fsport before he trades it. It does have around 20k miles.
His setup is fsport intake+fsport exhaust. I've driven his car, it sounds good at high RPM SPORT+, shifting seems a bit more smooth and sounds good too.
My setup is stock intake+fsport exhaust. I do like the sound resonated when going vrooooooooom.
Wondering if it is worth to do the swap? Anyone got experience with the intake? I've heard intake+exhaust can give a tiny boost of hp, and increase mpg?
I don't think you're going to gain much in terms of mpg or performance from the intake. You will gain a little more intake noise though, which sounds pretty nice in my opinion on the IS350.

I'm getting 23-24 mpg combined with my setup. Wbu?
Would you say the fsport intake is a good investment? lol, I'm not spending any money, just that I would not be able to switch back to stock.
stock for stock performance for free.
why is there any thinking involved?

I mean it looks cooler when you pop the hood..
I'm with specONE on this...just make the trade. It won't hurt the value of your car and you didn't have to spend $350 for it. Plus, don't you already have the FSport exhaust? It's a win-win in my book.
At the minimum, swap the air filter and the box lid, shouldn't take more than a minute. I'd leave the intake pipe and get a hps intake instead so you can keep the sound generator.

That's what I did actually. HPS intake + FSport filter with stock air box. Cut an extra hole in the front of the lower air box right behind the headlight like the FSport air box. But if I was given the option to do a straight trade, I'd go that way obviously.
He can always offer a straight trade to someone else down line when he wants to sell or trade in his car.
