What's a good one and how did you hide the power cable?

I'm running a Blacksys Ch-100b, purchased from blackboxmycar.

I followed this install guide: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...tallation.html

In that DIY the power cables are run along the pillar down to the fusebox, you might not be able to close the fuse box properly (mines taped on there). the alternative is to run a mirrortap as metioned here:

I personally have my dashcam running down to the fuse box, and my radar detector running off a mirror tap. Not a difficult DIY, took me about an hour and a half. I spent 20 minutes positioning my camera because i'm OCD. i'd recommend some small zip ties, electrical tape, snips/pliers, definitely a trim tool (i got mine when i bought the dashcam), a flathead screwdrive to help push things where they need to go, maybe some heatshrink and a lighter for it.

Your reverse camera is independent to your car, the rear camera for a dash cam is independent to the dashcam system.

Dashcams typically come in 1 channel or 2 channel variants. channel as in cameras.
a 2 channel system is 1 main unit which also has the front camera; and a second camera, typically the rear facing camera.

a 1 channel system is typically 1 main unit which includes the camera, typically the front facing camera.

They might explain it better here:
https://www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/...annel-dashcams

I stalked the clublexus forums, dashcamtalk forums and youtube videos before buying my dashcam. There's also powerpacks you can purchase and add on to your dashcam setup to help with using the parking mode feature without risking draining your car battery. Personally I would have opted for a Thinkware F770 over the Blackvue, but I didn't need all the bells and whistles and got the BlackSys instead. There's an abundance of Dashcam clips floating on youtube, and comparison videos out there.

I chose my dashcam because it was budget friendly 2 channel system. i didn't get a powerpack because i didnt need parking mode yet, since i don't park my car in sketchy areas for now, and i can always buy it and add that to my setup.

edit: here's a deal i wish i held out for

I bought the ThinkWare F750 2 Channel. It does continuous recording in clips of a minute each. Sound is picked up from the front but synced to both the front and back clips. You view clips/modify settings in the accompanying app connected through the camera's WiFi. I like the system because it's small and there aren't many 2 channels that have 1080p in both the front/rear. It officially supports 64GB microSD, but it's running on a 128GB no problem (it IS picky on which cards it will run on).

You can also buy a wire accessory to do parking mode recording, but I haven't done that.

Here's a clip of my friends in my GSF.

And a sample back clip:

#10 on my list: http://www.e46mango.com/2016/07/mang...d-bmw-e46.html

Use multimeter--theres switched 12V power and ground in the two OEM wire bundles above the dome light switch panel. You'll want a 12V to 5V DC converter to power the cam. (All the links on my site)

My Mobius (about the size of a tic tac box) is on whenever the ignition is on and has been working superbly for years now (I've had it in 4 different cars) It's discreet and small and doesn't scream I HAVE A DASHCAM BREAK IN AND STEAL ME.

The resolution and quality of video is great.

Can anyone share experience with dash cam that records when car is off? Looking for something that will continue to record at night when the car is parked. And needs to survive 100+ heat in the summer.

I can't answer your question since I live in San Francisco but you're looking for something with a parking mode feature. The popular option would be a 2 channel system with a high temperature tolerance and has a parking mode, coupled with something like the Celllink Battery B.

My Dashcam claims to have a operating temperature range from -4F to 158F
