Default How do you guys park with lowered IS? Parking Block

How do you guys park your IS 2014+ forward because the car is 1/2 inch lowered compared to gen 2 and gen 1, I'm always afraid to hit the front skirt onto the parking block. Most of the time I reverse park. lol

Is there anyway to install parking sensors on the front?

Parking sensors won't detect the curbs when parking. Best to learn not to go too much forward or reverse parking.

I trick I've learn is that when you're parking next to another car. Try to line up your side mirrors with the center of the driver/passenger door of the car next to you. This way, you're not too far in nor out. The IS is pretty short car anyways.

Reverse in.
When parking head first, I ask a passenger to guide or use the reflection of in adjacent car to see distance from cement block.

LOL that's exactly what I do. I park really far away from the block and reverse park most of the time. I sometimes get out of my car and check before I inch in more if I park forward, but that's quite annoying.

Hmm.. My old car, I usually line up my side mirrors with the other person's side mirror. Your advice make sense. So line up with the other car a little bit more forward of their door handle.

When I can I back in, if not, I usually end up parking farther away than intended from the parking block, and I'm ok with it.

When I was checking my car in to have new tires installed a few months back, a guy came in and asked to speak to the manager. He had noticed that his front fascia was pretty damaged from one of the tire shop guys hitting the curb with his car. He said that he had just gotten the car back from being repaired for the exact same reason (I don't know who caused the first incident).

I usually reverse park and leverage the backup cam but this one time I risked it and came close.

I always back in..

If you want to front in and make your life easy, pick up the BeatSonic front camera interface and add a front cam to your IS. It is intended for this sort of thing.

Super easy to install btw.

I usually just check by getting out of the car if I'm skeptical or not satisfied.

I lose a wopping 3 seconds doing that lol

I had Curbalert, it works for short term but it started giving me false alert and some parking blocks that are not in the center won't work. Beatsonic front camera interface works better.

My car isn't lowered yet and it's still low enough to scrape on parking blocks and curbs.

Right?! Mine isn't lowered either, and I still scape the bottom on the front. I did it at least 3 times with parking block cause I underestimate the clearance

I'm planning to get a front lip to protect it from further damage.
