I have both 2IS250 & 3IS250.
2IS is a bit lighter & quicker 0-60, however 3IS has far better ride comfort, and far more controllable handling at the limit.

Personally, I think the 3IS is so much more sexy than the 2IS. Now the new 2017 is even sexier.

The 3IS250 has a similar ride and ride noise level to the 3IS350, but the 3IS250 V6 is much smoother and quieter than the 3IS350 V6 engine.
The bigger the engine capacity, the louder the engine, while the bigger the engine capacity, the heavier the reciprocating mass, hence the coarser the engine.

The 3.5L V6 is powerful, but not my favorite engine.
I can't wait till Lexus downsizes to the 3.0L V6 in twin turbo...

Go with whichever you like best. If I still had my 08 is350 I would not have upgraded to the 3rd gen IS. I really don't care for the catfish looking front of the f sport front end on the 3rd gen.

I just traded my 2IS for a 3IS......I don't know which backseat everyone is talking about but I don't notice a big enough difference to write home about lol. My son is recently out of his booster seat so I don't have to worry about that anymore I definitely 100% prefer the interior of the 3IS.....the look and quality is far superior. However, I am on the fence about the exterior.....I still really like the exterior styling of the 2IS. I think I'm still on the fence because my car is stock.....I'm sure once I get it to where my 2IS was I'll feel different.

Good luck with whatever you choose. If there is one thing I can guarantee it is that you will be happy with whichever one you choose!
