i'd be interested in someone doing a diy write-up of this. it's an awesome feature our cars are lacking.

Everyone is interested in a write up DIY, but no one is willing to cough up the cash and time investment for something that may not even work.

Let's get some basic questions answered. Someone in Canada that has auto-folding mirrors. Do you also have Blind Spot Monitoring?

It also looks as if the GS350/RX350 has the same mirrors. Maybe we could take pieces from their USDM instead of buying from other markets.

They have the same mirror but a different base, to allow room for the actuator.
Second question, is the curvature of the doors the same so the base can be mounted properly?
Third issue is that this will not be plug and play. So DIY wiring would be needed for automatic folding when park, and also wired to an actuator switch for manual control. We will need a wiring schematic of the GS mirrors.
4th issue is sourcing the correct parts at a reasonable price.
5th issue is, who will be the first to take on this task?
Maybe we can chose the most technical, experienced, and trusted members who is willing to take this on. Then other members can chip in $10 each until there is enough to begin the project. if $500 is required, we would need 50 guys to contribute.
I don't know, just throwing out ideas.

Lol at this idea..

I could tackle it easily but i'm not sure if i'd have the time or money to do it
It would have to be all IS parts. Wiring schematics we can use GS as a base since its readable for us in English.
its probably a $1000+ in parts job.....there maybe ECUs that need to be swapped as almost everything in the cars is canbus driven.

Here's my contribution.

Wiring diagram for 2014 Lexus GS350RWD with retractable mirrors
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-a3HG3XCM3kQmpNZ0JVb0xtNEE/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-TPCgqdF8n1HeZLWPqQYsBQ

If anybody goes forth an attempts this, fell free to bounce ideas off of me or of you need and guidance on how should proceed.

Taking quick look at the diagram, it is normally linked to memory seat option so for us Fsport vehicles, seems like a lot of stuff to replace while the Luxury packaged cars may be able to possibly get by with the current Door ECU switches, maybe, just maybe.

I'm always up for a good DIY but I don't want to invest the cash.

This is not true unfortunately.
