what you are calculating is fuel consumption for a specific condition. if you total overall consumption for a certain volume of fuel, that is referred to as fuel economy. Most manufacturers use a nominal average of city driving consumption and highway driving consumption to come up with thei fuel economy numbers, and those don't have idle time in them.

In block 12 of this thread, I explained how and why I track the highway mileage (vs city mileage) of my vehicles with the methodology described therein. I am not attempting to replicate anyone's MPG calculating methodology, especially that of manufacturers. My calculations serve their purpose for me very well and I simply hoped that sharing them here would assist others interested in the subject of this thread.

Im getting 17.7mpg. Driving like 80% city though in sport lol. So am i actually getting like 15?
