If the true successor to the 2GR motor is good and ready, this would be the perfect time to unveil that powerplant and re-ignite attention to the 3IS which has been slowly declining in popularity since its initial release.
would be a good idea, although knowing lexus, it's probably not what's going to happen...

The 2GR-FSE has been out for over a decade and has remained largely unchanged. It does seem about time to update the x350 model with a new engine. We know they've got a larger turbo engine in the works. They even hinted at perhaps a 4-5 liter twin turbo. They talked about having a modular design to come out with turbo and non turbo versions of an engine. With the release of the 2.0 turbo engine last year, we've almost all but confirmed that they've got a 3 liter turbo in the works.

Personally, I'd like to see a IS300 AWD with a non turbo 3 liter rather than that detuned 3.5 and perhaps a IS300T F Sport. If we don't get that with this refresh, we'll probably get it next year, if not the year after. It's definitely coming.

I'd crap my pants if they decide to do a 3 liter twin turbo IS-F

For now it is probably the same engine, but a new more powerful engine is welcome. I would prefer if Lexus can work with Mazda in getting a technology similar to the sky active which will push the engine to 350-360 hp and a huge increase in torque. Additionally they could push the MPG much better than any TT v6.

I'm keeping my Lex , the new one is good but not that much of an improvement over ours. The only thing I really like is the bigger screen.

tailights, sides of the center console are different. They slimmed down the start button area so you can see the bottom corner of the bigger screen. The exhaust tips are different

They botoxed the headlights. Now too tall. Slim was better for a sportier look. Need to see what they did with the non-F-Sport model.
