Default Please identify this UFO for me!

Hi Guys,

Eversince I got the 250 a year ago, 2 ABS plastic parts came with it in the trunk with a weird Japanese 1 page instruction for installing. never understood what the part is used for.

dont even know if its a spare or it should be installed on the car and they forgot it at the assembly line at found out too late so they just through it in the trunk along with a paper on how to do it my self

the Part numbers are 53851-53050 and 53852-53050 which are basically the same only indicitating LH or RH side. in google they come up as "Pad, Front Wheel Opening Extension"

can anyone inlighten me with some pics maybe of where this part is installed? also has anyone received these with their car? is it important?

here are some pics as well. (My foot for scale )

Only thing that came with them was this assembly exploded view

Part Number

has a weird boomerang like shape

Well ... my car came with these already installed. I'm not sure why it was not installed in your case!
Currently I don't have any pic for it, but if you need some pics I will take some today.

They're mud guards and are mounted in front of the front tires.

They're called spats IIRC. I've had them on my last 2 Toyotas. They are supposed to improve the aerodynamics and improve gas mileage.

They're free aerodynamic pieces. People spend stupid money for aero that may or may not help but at least these ones were designed by auto engineers to work They're not needed but may as well throw them on there since they help aero and are free.

those pads aid in aerodynamics. for example, the rav4 mid year update 08-09 had bigger pads for more fuel efficiency.
