Default Lighting Upgrades

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum and recently purchased a 2016 is200t. I am interested in doing some lighting upgrades. Interior/exterior LED's and possibly HID bulb upgrades. Any suggestions? I like natural white with a hint of plasma blue. I'm thinking 5 or 6k. Please be gentle, I'm still trying to find my way around the forum.

From personal experience running a few HID sets:
Standard HID wattage of 35 w: 5000k seemed to produce pure white light, while 6000k was white with a hint of blue.
I currently run 55w 6000k headlights and the appearance is almost pure white, seems the higher wattage pulls some of the color out.

Also, if you end up running LED bulbs make sure to get them from a single source. I bought LED lights from different stores and they mismatch white color!

I hope this info helps a lil bit!

Thank you for taking the time to help. I have used VLED in the past and will probably continue to use their products. Do you have any bulb suggestions? Osram etc? I assume OEM is 4300K?

Also, I agree with the previous post.. Definitely want to get the same bulb for the whole interior.. They're all size 194. I swapped all the bulbs in my car to LEDs and it looks awesome with the leather interior

Yes it did, the factory ones look nice and match the DRL'so well. I just wondered if a higher quality bulb would produce more light.

Thanks, I just got my 194 VLED's in so I'm going to try to swap them out. Any special advice before I get started? I have trim tools, does everything just pop out with ease? Really don't want to break anything.

The front map lights you don't even need to take the whole housing down, you can just pop the plastic part over the lights off with a flat head, you might be able to do the same with the rear but I took the whole thing down after prying it out with a flat head. Trunk light you can pry out with a flat head. The door lights at the bottom corner you can try a skinny flat head, I used a credit card and jammed it in there and pried it out. Shouldn't be a big deal. Only lights that were hard to change on this car are the mirror puddle lights. I also out LEDs in my reverse lights, which again were simple to change

Any thoughts on new HID bulbs? Don't get me wrong, OEM is great but I can't help but wonder if there is another option that produces more usable light? I hear good things about Osram Night Breakers, any personal experience?

If you have the full LED headlights (hi/lo beam), you cannot change the bulb, much less any component within the headlight like you can on HID based headlights.

Surprised you feel the need for more light, when my low beams are on I light up the whole road and then some. Never feel the need to even use my high beams

I am not sure if they are HID or LED, I will leave them alone. I don't necessarily need more light, just wondering if it could get better. I could leave it alone and never think twice. I am going to change the 194's out. Thanks for all the help!

highly recommend these for the map/interior and door lights. WAY BETTER than just a straight bulb swap. 15% promo code now
