The 3IS only does traffic stream through HDRadio, but Lexus Canada has not enabled that functionality. Probably because there is no national coverage and for the regions where it is covered, that coverage is spotty. However, there is enough coverage in the major regions such as Montreal, GTA (via Hamilton), Calgary and Vancouver to have owners in those area push and be vocal to Lexus Canada (and probably Toyota Canada) to enable this via a software update.
Join Twitter, and follow @LexusCanada and let them know, I have. Include @HDRadio in the tweet too. The only way Lexus Canada is going to do something is if we name and shame them into action.
I thought the functionality for HD radio was there? Depending on where you are, HD radio is just not available.
HDRadio multi channel audio stream is available in most markets now, and Lexus has enabled it. HDRadio traffic and weather sub channels are available in select markets, but Lexus Canada has not enabled that capability on Canadian spec cars.
Also had this on my 2013 RX. Noticed this week it doesn't exist on my 2016 RX and told by dealer that it's been disabled "across the board" for Canada. Huge step backward.
has anyone talked to a canadian dealership about the lack of traffic on nav? if so their response?
Customer Assistance Centre - Lexus Canada response (as of 05-Aug-2016):
"At the present time, we do not have any information available regarding the possibility of integrating traffic information with the directions provided by the navigation system. We have, however, noted your comments regarding such a feature, and have forwarded them to our Product Planning department for their information and future consideration. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, as it is through e-mails like yours that we can make changes when necessary."
