Default APEXi AFC controllers

Hey guys just looking for a way to make my car a little faster. I know its hard to get power out of our vehicles but im looking for something to help my car feel more responsive as well. Has anyone tried installing a Apex-I air and fuel controller? Or any suggestions?

I have a 2015 Lexus IS 250 F-sport

I used the SAFC2 on my Tacoma a few years back. Leaning the mixture out a bit I was able to net a 27hp gain at redline. Overall my peak power only went up 11hp. The factory ECU richened the mixture a lot in the higher rpms, likely to avoid detonation. I leaned it out until I saw the ECU starting to pull timing. I didn't have anything to monitor the knock sensor, so watching the timing was the best I could do.

I suspect there must be better piggyback tuners now. Check out the FTC from Underdog Racing.

I have contacted URD with regards to a product that they offer. It seems there might be some tunability for us re MAF signals etc. Its a " piggy back " if you will and they charge $200 bucks for a road tune of the unit. Im local to them, so I may invest $400 plus on the product to see if it works. At this point, I need to know where the ECU is on our cars. I have a 350 F Sport AWD in MD and located 30 mins from them. Current setup ( engine is full joeZ cat back exhaust and tekdata intake ). Im looking at PPE headers, but I dont know if I want to go that route.

Nah it's not just for trucks. The guy who started URD was a Tacoma enthusiast back in the day working with the 5VZ and the TRD supercharger. The site may seem truck oriented, but I suspect the piggybacks work with any ECU. The FTC has more tuning points than the SAFC and does timing too. I'd email them and see what they say.

I wouldn't see how a piggyback wouldn't work w/ our ECU's, it just takes taping into the correct wires for air/fuel manipulation and to feed simulated OEM-like signals to the ECU so it doesn't think anything is wrong. I would purchase one if there was some R&D in it and HP/$ ratio is there.

Should have gotten the 350

Then supercharge it if you're not happy...

I'm tempted to just go with a 50 or 75 shot of nitrous. Seems like the best bang for the buck and due to low power levels, engine damage shouldn't be an issue, especially with a WOT and kill switch installed.

The piggyback will give a little boost, but ultimately you are looking at about a 25hp bump max. It's nice, but likely not what you are looking for.
