Haha. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the stock tires should be quieter. It makes no sense to me when they build a car like this, and put noisy tires on it. I can't imagine how bad it is in states with concrete highways.
The Continentals are quieter and will last longer than the Michelin. The Michelin will be the much better performer in all areas except noise and ride.
Tire store suggests get Toyo Proxis, and say they will "last Way longer".
I had DSWs on for over a year and a half with 15k miles on them. The threads are still good(7-8 / 32) and rides great in the rain. But lately I've been noticing some tire noises at low speed around 20~30mph. Its a bit annoying but my exhaust will drone it out at higher speed. No cupping in tires wearing all even at 36psi. I just don't think these are the quietest tires out there... stocks ones are lol
Maybe this will help. DWS on the left AS3 on the right.
Basically, the Conti's sacrifice a little bit of conering and dry traction for much better capability in the snow. They're also quieter and have longer tread wear.
Conti DWS are pretty quiet but STAY AWAY from them if you drive on poorly maintained roads. I had to replace 3 of them last winter due to potholes and sidewall damage. I didn't have any issues with OEM tires on the same roads.
