Default 3IS Differential & 2IS Differential Swappable?

Can anyone confirm that a 2IS Rear Differential would fit onto a 3IS?

If you know anything please chime in. (time sensitive)

Thanks guys!

Since the IS-F and 3IS350 8-Speed transmission are nearly identical and several IS-F owners have been successful with swapping to the 4.08 2IS differential in the past, I would say that it's highly likely that the 4.08 differential swap to a 3IS350 is feasible (though no one that I know of has actually done this mod yet).

Here is the IS-F thread for reference: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...s350-diff.html.

There are at least two IS-F members with a 2IS350 rear differential for sale if you look at the last page of that thread.

Hmm I've been thinking about this differential swap lately. 2IS differentials are pretty darn cheap.

Seeing as the 3IS is speed limited to about 150mph, this mod shouldn't affect the top speed right? Only the rpms should change (increase) for any given gear.

My only concern would be if the diffs are even physically similar in dimensions, and if there would be any feature loss from the 2IS to 3IS differentials?
I believe it's only the gearing that's changed correct? Or is there better cooling fins etc in the latest gen IS350 differential?

Tried to find some underbody pics of the 3IS 350, but I haven't came across any that pictured the differential in a good shot lol. (cleverly looked for exhaust install shots :P)

I'd have to get my car on a lift to really inspect the diff, as the car is too low to poke my head under.

Would be great if anyone else has any further insights.

Working on that right now...so far i've found that the differential gear is the same as the ISF but the cases are different. IS250 no big deal but the 3rd gen 350 is a bit different for whatever reason. I'll keep everyone posted.
