I just saw a crack on my windowshield from a debris likely now i'm trying to find out how to get it replaced because its definitely bigger than a dollar bill. I'm so damn **** my car has like 2000 miles on it and this happens. I called lexus they said the service advisor was going to get back to me but he didn't but I did call about 30 min before 6pm. My question is,
a)approx how much would 100% OEM windowshield would cost, i google previously for other lexus 1400-1900?!!!!
b)would my insurance cover 100% OEM windowshield or just OEM quality/aftermarket windowshield
c)dealer will not touch glass and say they usually let third party do these type of matters, what is a reputable autoglass repair
d)i'm so ****ing **** its not cover under my extended extra warranty I bought for 2g when i bought the car 2 month ago.
Sorry by the way bro!! I always worry about that, when I see trailers on the highway. Sucks because I just noticed a small scratch on my car. Going to see if I can take it to get it buffed out, we'll see?
they sell a separate windshield warranty, reading posts like these make me happy i paid for that. safelight is the best windshield repair IMO, they are the contractors for the warranty for both my cars and do good work.
Just got a chip on my windshield the other day. I heard it and a second later found it.. Got me pretty upset but Lexus doesn't cover it. Might just try to get it filled
so how do you avoid these damn cracks? I can't be freaking getting this... are there product to prevent future events? I think i heard mine a couple days ago but I never had this happen to me before so I just assume it was fine and i'm in a lexus it'll be good. Is it true that the edges of windshield are where most of the stress are and most cracks tend to start there?
-try to avoid trucks? big moving things
-could this happen behind a normal sedan/jeep?
-any products to prevent this?
Edit: Hell where do I even go find a damn OEM windshield? I looked up safelite and autoglass roughly 700$ but I'm quite sure thats not OEM.
Just had wife's 2008 GS windshield replaced by safelite. Now rain sensing wipers don't work :/
In their defense, they asked me each time I replaced my windshield whether my car had rain sensing wipers. Was it specified during replacement?
OP, im on my third windshield already, and have owned the car for 9 months. I had OEM replacement first time it happened, and that glass seemed just as fragile as the original. So third windshield, i decided to go aftermarket. This thing has held up much better, and endured some sizeable debris since installation. OEM windshield seemed extremely delicate and vulnerable. Never had to replace a windshield on any other car that dealt with just as much highway driving, tractor trailers, etc. Very disappointed in OEM strength. My two cents... Safelite is just fine, and dont be afraid of aftermarket glass.
well deciede to shell out $1500 and get OEM, just gonna take the hit but lowered my deductible to $100, if this happens again i'll just $100 instead of $1500. Can't weight money for safety for something as important as windshield.
