Default Rough Paint

Hey guys quick question, so today I went to wash my car down here in Austin and when I went to dry it off some parts were really rough. The hood and the front sides were smooth but right next to the drivers side handle it was really rough, especially on top near the sun roof. Is it old wax from the dealership?
So as soon as I got home I used the spray detailed from Meguiars to see if it would smooth it out and it didn't. Should I try waxing it?

Based on your explanation, I don't think it's old wax from dealership. You said that you spray detailed it and it didn't smooth out, so your best solution may be to give it a polish and then add wax on top. The other explanation could be that there's damage on the paint?? Acid rain?

I'll try to get it detailed tomorrow and see if that works. If not I'll see ifbthe coverage protection will cover it. Thanks Lexi90.

I would say you need wax, the factory wax that is supposed to be done at the dealership usually doesn't happen

Make sure you clay it when you detail it that will make it smooth

Do not wax it first. I would first suggest washing the car (grab some Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss). I suggest the 2 bucket method. Next I would clay the entire vehicle. After that I would polish the car and finish with a wax or sealant.

Often times even with new vehicles as they are transported to your dealership fall victim to surface contaminants ranging from tree sap, industrial fallout, heavy film or tar from the road, or paint overspray.

These contaminants will often remain on the vehicle even after a thorough wash, leaving obstacles for waxes or sealants that inhibit proper bonding, as well as creating unsightly additions to the finish. By removing the contamination with a clay bar waxes and sealants can then properly bond to the surface, the paint and/or glass will feel smoother, offer more gloss and will often be easier to wash and dry as well.

Yup, wash-clay-polish-sealant or wax.

I'd personally take it to a detailer.
