I have State Farm and have a zero deductible on glass, so I've had a windshield replaced for free (not on the IS). It's one thing I insist on, as windshield damage occurs relatively frequently and I just hate the idea of paying for it. My premiums are very reasonably priced.

Any time you get a chip, always get it filled asap professionally using a vacuum suction cup for less than $100 (ins. covered possibly) to minimize the above from occurring and save from having to deal with crappy reinstallations.

You can get it filled, but it doesn't make the chip go away. It will still be annoyingly seen any time you're looking around that spot.

Nice thing, in PA, if the chip is in your line of sight, that can fall under your comp, and bam, new windshield (for free if you do your car insurance properly)
