Then you should use AUX input with regular cable. No need to use A/V port.

 

Oh, thanks, I guess the thrust of my question was whether the 4-pole AUX cable was indeed essential or the 3-pole cable would suffice for audio.

 

3-pole jack will not work in 4-pole A/V jack. There's AUX jack in the car aside from A/V you can use that for audio.

I have a 2013 GS350 with AUX for audio but no A/V for video on my sceen, I have NAV. Did Lexus leave this feature out on 2013 or do i HAVE to buy this:

Never posted before but not being able to use that screen drove me nuts. Installed the beat sonic today and used your setup to mirror the phone. Add-in "DIRECTV now" and I have cable tv everywhere I go! Only thing that will make it better is plugging in the Nintendo classic santa is bringing me! Thanks again!

What about a powered HDMI to AV converter?

I know gennacide said he used Radio Shack for the 3.5mm cable and HDMI converter, but there were some concerns about video quality.

 

After doing some more research I decided to give it a shot in the dark.

Here are the components I decided to try:

StarTech.com 0.3m 1ft Short High Speed HDMI Cable

Cingk 1080p HDMI to RCA CVBS AV Composite Converter

Zune A/V Output Cable

Total cost was under $40. I will post the outcome after I get the products.

 

So I received 2 of the 3 items today. Still waiting on the hdmi box.

I decided to give the a/v cable a try since that has been the issue for most people.

Plugged it in and.... jackpot!

 

What are you going to use for the video from phone to converter box?

 

When I get the box I'm going to hook up my iPhone hdmi cable to use my phone. Will also test out my android tablet with a different hdmi cable.
