Default clear plastic on rear doors supposed to be there?

Are these pieces of plastic supposed to be here, or were they left on after shipping or something? They create odd looking lines when the smallest amount of dirt gets on the edges. Highly visible after 1 day of driving.

Yes, they are supposed to be there. They are protectors to avoid chipping the paint in that area since the fenders are flared and are more prone to stone being kicked up from the front tire and shooting it towards that area.

Here's more conversation about your concern from a couple of weeks ago.

Some guy from these forums took them off and now has stone chips all over that area so it would be a good idea to leave them on, even though they look really ugly

i guess road conditions would be something to factor in when making this decision. Dirt around these films.....nasty. i have the ultra white one so this dirt collector is more evident than lets say on a nebula grey or black one. im very impatient when it comes to washing my car. i dont have time for claybar-ing those tiny areas every time. I have a company come out to my office parking lot and they wash it twice a week. id rather do my own maintenance ie...oil changes, brake pad replacements, and so on. But washing my car twice a week? i dont have time for that...or rather i dont want to invest my time in washing a car...lol. Pick your poison i guess.

I removed all five films including the rear bumper one within 24 hours of receiving the car. and a majority of people scolded me like a parent would a child. its been 14 months now and not ONE rock chip is to be seen or felt in those areas. but like i said...where i live and where i drive the majority of the time, the road conditions are excellent. 14 months with 21,000 miles so far....so i would say i drive a good amount. I SHOULDVE placed a film however on my front bumper and my windshield. the canyon gods were not on my side those days.... oh well... #battlescars

if I were you, I would leave it on. It will help prevent paint chips in that area.

Absolutely agree, they make their point. Until they get yellow...and then must be removed!

Yes, they're supposed to be there as the other forum members have stated. There's also a strip of the same clear-bra material on the top of your rear bumper to protect the bumper paint from wear and tear from using your trunk.
