Default Rear Bumper Plastic Cover-Up

Anyone thought of wrapping the black plastic below the reflectors on the rear and matching it to car's color? Anyone done it?

I think it looks more upscale the way they built it. There's a reason why the Germans and Lexus are doing putting it there.

I'm seriously considering having the reflectors painted to match the body color. I can't stand the reflectors.

It's black to make the rear bumper look not as big like a big *** hanging.

It looks better in black. All of my older cars, I have painted them black.

That plastic ruins the look of the car and looks cheap.

That part is called a rear diffuser. It's supposed to help break up wind turbulence and increase aerodynamic efficiency. How well it works depends on the design of the body, the diffuser and the speed the car is traveling. I'm not an automotive engineer so I can't tell you how well it works on the IS. I can tell you that high end sports cars like Porsche, Ferrari, etc. spend quite a bit of time in the wind tunnel testing and tuning their rear diffusers.

You're a little confused man. That's just a valance panel.

i dunno, i'd really like to get rid of the black valance in some way or another. to those who are saying it looks better black, the modellista kit which covers the valance is body colored and looks amazing. i mean, i realize that it's all subjective and such, but i don't think the modellista kit looks garish at all and it looks pretty oem as well.

anyhow, to the op, i think it would be very difficult to match the car's paint with a wrap.

I agree on the difficulty front but I'm hoping I can get close enough. I haven't seen a straight replacement online. I'm assuming I can get the paint from Lexus? Even so, that's a different surface altogether but I suppose it could be sanded down.

I have also thought about doing this, and went as far as talking to the shop that vinyl wraps my roof/mirror caps/emblem. The guy said due to the textured/porous nature of that plastic piece, no wrap in this world will stick to it. It can be done, but requires lots of prep work to make that surface smooth enough for adherence.

I figured that'd be the case :/

I'll have to keep an eye out for a straight replacement.

Ditto.
I'm looking for a straight replacement that's compatible with a dual tip exhaust (e.g. factory). Most of the aftermarket parts available are for quad tips.
Seibon makes one for dual tip, but I find a carbon fibre valence is too "in your face".
