does the is 250 come with tpms sensors, and if you purchase aftermarket wheels do you have to purchase new ones, or hopfully there are no sensors, thanks

 

All US spec Lexus vehicles come with TPMS sensors. Your signature says Canada. I can't speak for what is standard there. You do not have to purchase new sensors. You can use those which come off of the OEM wheels. Many do. Others who wish not to have to swap out the sensors if they keep and use the OEM wheels, just buy a new set of sensors.

 

The IS350 in Canada comes with TPMS so I am assuming this would be standard on the 250. As mentioned if you purchase new wheels you can

- have them installed without moving the sensors over from stock wheels
- transfer/reprogram the sensors onto the new wheels ($)
- purchase a new set of sensors to install/program onto the new wheels ($)

I don't think the sensors or reprogramming them is cheap so unless you really want them on your new wheels...

 

Depends on where you go, I had a local shop swap out sensors to new wheels and tires and reprogram for $60. They just need the scanner to reprogram. Only thing they told me was the shop needed to have software update for 2014 MY to be able to reprogram i think. Prices for the actual sensors can vary though.

 

$43 per sensor, ~$172 total. If you swap your sensors 3x at $60 per time, your better off to just buy two sets of sensors for each set of wheels. I'm sure Lexus will reprogram it for free.

Reprogram? Yes. For free? Doubt it. If they do, you guys in Canada have it nice!

 

i have a question on the tpms. lets say you buy another set of tpms for the aftermarket wheels and had them program it. the original tmps are still on the stock wheels. then when you decided to switch back to stock wheels for whatever reason, like winter season the stock wheels go back on. will the tpms on the stock be recognize? or you still have to re program them again?

 

The dealer I am going through is really good. I used to work at a BMW dealer for a couple years while I was in university as a side job, and the Lexus dealer in my city has absolutely blown my mind. Puts BMW to shame in terms of customer service and treating customers right. It would only take 2 minutes to reprogram anyways.

 

This is my question as well, though it seems it can hold two sets.

I'd hate to have to get things reprogrammed every time I switch.

 

form what I have read, the lexus can only hold one set, My Tsx is really good, you can put a new set of wheels with tpms on it and the car will learn them, no programing needed, amazed why lexus would use such an old system

 

Curious as to where u read that?

My 2014IS350 F sport has a button located under the dash / bolster area below the steering column that allows for TWO SETS of tpms to be programed.
Still the dealer needs to add/program the tpms id's but the vehicle can handle two sets of wheels.
