I am not sure what iteration of data I have on my SD card. The number on the back is 8627153191 and below that 0682. Not sure if this is the Lexus part number or data level. Looking for information. Also, tried to load card into my computer to see what is on it. No luck reading it even using a USB 3.0. Are the cards supplied by TOM TOM?
SD stands for Secure Digital. SD cards can be encrypted so that you can't read them unless you have the right hardware/software. The salesman told me that you can't just take one of these SD cards and put them in your car, the car has to be programmed for a specific card with the TechStream software.
The card can only be used in YOUR car. It is not intended to be used in another device of any kind. In fact it is keyed to only work in your car. This is the standard with any type of GPS/Nav software. Put it back and don't mess with it is my advice.

Someone has given you a tall tale. My car was delivered with a production shortage.NO SD CARD. The sales manager delivered one to me fresh in a plastic box. There was no programming required to my specific vehicle. The card will read in any new Lexus IS. No problem removing and re-inserting the card with vehicle turned off.
So, the question is what numbers are on the SD card? Part or change level. Anyone out there had one out to look?
No, they are keyed to your VIN number - the dealer sent you one for YOUR car only based on the VIN
Try to put it in another car, and it won't work
Toyota has been doing that since 2010

Not quite. When the card is new and unused, it will work in any car. Once it has been installed in a car, the car writes something to it, and now the card will not work in any other car, except this one where it was first installed.
My car came without a card. I bought an unused card off the web, they didn’t know my VIN, and the card worked in my car.
