Default Fender Liner/Tire Blown

A few days ago, I had a nail in my tire. Took it to Pepboys to patch it up since that was the only shop open at the time. Next day I'm driving on the freeway...boom! My tire blows up (not like shredded) and my fender liner comes out. Anybody ever have this happen to them? Rolling with the spare right now. Seems quite bumpy and really loud when I'm going 50...

im really sorry that happened.

it looks like it blew on the inside wall right? front this angle it looks like the fender wasnt torn out. it must have been the intense pressure of the air escaping all at once that popped the fender out. and im not too familiar about the spare but you shouldnt be driving at highway/freeway speeds with that on. hows the rim?

OUCH.!!

Few OEM clips will get that liner right back into place...

Did the tire blow where the patch was ?? or did you run over something??

And yes the TEMP emergency spares are speed limited and should not be driven on for long periods of time..

Yeah...it's on the inside wall =/. The liner was actually torn apart and ripped the ABS wire. Took it to the dealer and they said it messed up the inside of my rim...sighs.

The tire didn't blow where the patch was thankfully. I'm guessing I ran over something...not too sure what it was. I didn't feel a bump or anything. Just a really loud pop Lexus quoted me almost 8 bills for everything...

4 wheel alignment, ABS wire replace, Wheel Repair, and the liner. shrugs...

The ONLY thing i can think of is that the person who uninstalled & installed the tire during the patch work, really did a poor job...

$800 seems alot ?? Does it include a new tire ?? Going to use your insurance ?

I think so too...the patch up looked poorly done. And I took my car back to the dealership and the guy gave me a new estimate. Came out A LOT cheaper! I guess the mechanics quoted me for the wrong part. But as of right now, I'm only paying $364.80 for a tire pressure monitor rear and the fender liner. No insurance...won't really be worth claiming!

And sadly they didn't give me a new tire. I just ended up ordering it from Discount Tire; took a few days since no one had it. And thankfully my wheel wasn't damaged!!! phew. lol

There should be nothing wrong with your TPMS sensor ...

Unless it was physically damaged from the blow out / flat tire..

Just curious, how old are the ER33 on your car?

The ER33 is notorious for road noise and it gets worse as they wear (why did Lexus use this!!). I had those on my IS but will be switching to Michelin Super Super Sport.

I blew a tire on a little Ford I had years ago. This was late Saturday afternoon, and if I drove home there would have been noplace to buy a tire on a Sunday(small town), so I turned around and went back to a Pep Boys.
NEVER AGAIN

Unfortunately, it was the TPMS sensor. I checked where the fender line was and saw that the cable was cut off. =/

I've heard that these tires suck too...and it's only been about 5 months.

Great pic....

So the TPMS sensor goes inside the tire & wheel.. The other end of it is the air stem valve..

Could be the ABS wiring, as you mentioned earlier?

You should also have some sort of waring light, for this issue.

I see I see...not exactly too sure! Right now, it shows that my tires are low but it's not! hopefully Lexus can take my car in tomorrow.
