I just throw it on the dash and I can easily use it while driving because it's mounted high up so I can see it without looking down radar detector cord wrapped around my phone charger, with my phone case where my phone is mounted magnet on dash metal plates on phone
Interesting. I'm more of a fan of a cleaner look w/out cords draping across the console interface. I just hardwired my Escort Passport radar detector myself, it's fairly easy to do and the wire is clean and not visible, just see it coming out of the bottom of the windshield where it meets the dashboard. LMK if you want more info/pics! Just need to buy an inline fuse for protection, they wire it into the 15A seat heater fuse. Easy peasy!
Love this setup, nice & clean and out of the way. The interior of this car is so nice I really don't want to block the vents or heat/ac or radio controls. When your phone is on there, can you use the tuner **** on the radio (sorry your pics are really dark)?
I checked and that Amazon link and ebay link now also no longer works (product is not available). I did a search on Amazon and found this. Is this the same product/concept as yours? Just slide the piece with that adhesive on it in between the leather and unit?
It can block the tuner ****, but since I mostly use the steering wheel controls it doesn't really bother me. If I do need to use the ****, I rotate the phone to portrait mode and it clears it just fine.
Yeah, I noticed Amazon no longer sells my particular phone magnet, but there are several similar ones out there. Can't speak specifically about the one you listed, but it looks like it might work. The only difference is that on mine there is a slight bend in the neck that holds the phone which might provided a tighter fit to snug up against the leather panel. I didn't even use the adhesive, it just sits snugly in there.
Here are some pics with better lighting. As you can see I can position the phone to clear the tuner **** with the phone oriented in either portrait or landscape. If you get a wider rectangle metal backplate instead of the circle, its a little easier to position the phone appropriately. Hope this helps.
Does this bother passengers? Does anyone regularly hit it with their knee? I really like this and have always wished for a clip in that area instead of using the vent. I even picked up some plastic from Taps Plastic to try and fabricate one...I just haven't got around to it yet.
Thanks.
The only time its been an issue is when I've had the screen mirror USB/lightning cable pulled out so far that my wife has knocked it over with her knee. Most of the time i keep the cable tucked in the console (there is about a foot and a half of slack in there), and I also try to orient the phone with the lightning connector pointed in to the console away from the passenger. It really shouldn't be in the way most of the time.
I think the phone holder that jimmyc13 posted is the most similar to the one I have which is unfortunately no longer available it seems.

So I bought this one that's currently on Amazon and it works the same way as his. The metal part with 3M adhesive on it must be thicker than his, as there is a very small bulge in between the console and the leather trim, but it works!

Thanks for sharing these! so the mount I got on amazon works the same way as yours. Two questions for you if you would be so kind to help me out:
1) How did you route your phone charger cable up thru the console and is it hardwired? Or is it plugged in somewhere?
2) I've only had my IS for 3 weeks. I'm really loving this phone placement, but when it comes to using Waze, it's a bit too far out of sight at times and feels dangerous. How did you get your phone display to show up on your screen, do you just use the "media" setting? Sorry for the noob question, still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles on this amazing car!
I'm glad the mount works for you. I agree the placement can be a bit low if you have to look at the phone itself and also try to keep visual on the road. Which is why I chose to do the screen mirror, that and I prefer Waze over the built in Nav.

WOW, I've never heard of this before. Interesting! All those wires scare me, did you install it yourself / how hard was it to do? a couple hours and how do you like it, is it worth it? Seems pretty freaking cool!

Yeah, did it myself. Pretty much followed the video. The kit I got was newer than what was in the video, completely plug and play. No splicing of wires needed. Even if you take your time and be super careful, this install can easily be done in under an hour.
I would contact Beatsonic through a PM, they can offer youa significant discount since they are a site sponsor.
Yeah, I have an iPhone 6S, so the battery is usually low. I usually dump it in the rear cup holder upside down with the charger cable plugged into the bottom of it.

In my 28018 I cut down a QI charging pad to fit the bottom on the arm storage box which I plugged into the USB with a 4 inch cable. Now I leave the phone on the pad. Presto, charge and store at the same time.
