Default Installing Reverse LED Lights?

Anyone know of any good DIY instruction on this?

I have all the lights changed except these and not sure where to start. Also when I changed the trunk lights it looks like there is loose bracket behind there. Is there a trick to get that to be more firm?

Thank you.

I just replaced all my lights to LEDs a few days ago, attached below is the service guide. the back up lights are on page 441. you just have to remove all the black clips with the clip upholstery tool and you'll have direct access to the bulb underneath the trunk liner. Hope this helps!

The "loose bracket" you speak of came completely off on my car. ( I assume that the item you speak of is the shield on top of the trunk light, inside the metal beam) This bracket is just a shield to prevent light to be visible through the hat shelf when the trunk light is on.
However, when it comes loose it can travel back an forth inside the metal beam, and make a very annoying rattle noice. If you can get it out, just remove the the part. That way you do not risk having to dismantle the whole hat shelf just to get the part out.

I had to take my car to the dealership so the could get the part out, after it came loose when chaning the bulb and started making a very annoying rattle sound while driving.

I'm not sure what the difference with completely coming off and loose is. To me It looks like it came off of something. Is it supposed to snap in to something or it just stays loose like that?

Thank you. Where do you get the clip upholstery tool?

i bought mine on amazon, it came as a full set with a couple other tools that came in handy when i was switching out the rest of the lights for LEDs and they weren't that expensive.

NEW! NYBERGLAS AUTO TRIM REMOVAL Tool Kit - Premium Quartz Fused FASTENER REMOVER Tool Set - Not Cheap Plastic - Auto Body Repair Tools - Removes Even the Most Tamper Proof Auto Body Molding and Interior Car Trim Panel - Best LIFETIME GUARANTEE! - Amazon.com NEW! If you search for "clip upholstery tool" on amazon you'll also find a bunch. For removing those black clips it doesn't matter if you get metal or plastic because you cant really damage the trunk liner, but if you get a full set i'd stick to plastic because it reduces the chances of you scratching your trim or paint.

Thank you. Do you just use this to pry it off? Wondering if you could do the same with plier or flat screw driver?

Did you notice loose metal casing when you swap the trunk light? Is the trick to get that more securely seated? I don't hear anything rattling but
way that casing was it didn't seem right.

Thank you.

The part I'm talking about, is on my car a black plastic cover that is supposed to snap on to the top of the clear plastic lens and be held in place by the lens and not the beam itself.

If it comes completely off, it stays inside the metal beam where the lens attaches, and travels back and forth inside the beam.
If it is just loose, it is still partly attached to the metal beam and will not move. Only rattle slightly.

You use the tool like you would if you were trying to remove a nail from a piece of wood with the claw side of a hammer. I wouldn't suggest it but you could try using the claw side of a hammer, and pry it out. I wouldn't try a screwdriver, these clips are only plastic and that might break them or do some damage to the trunk liner.

idk if anyone else has a solution, but i'd stick with the clip upholstery tool. Its designed to remove these things and it will prevent anything from getting damaged.

I'll take a look at my trunk light but i believe it went back into place pretty snuggly without any problems.

For the trunk light I'm not sure if it was that way to start but there is just a slight movement on the light cover if I place my finger and slide it back and forth. I haven't heard anything slide around like magne's situation but I'm wondering if I install the cover correctly on this.

All the other light covers were tight as heck and it still is.

Maye you've broken of one of the small parts that makes the cover attach properly to the lens?

I don't think that's it since it only moves very slightly side to side.

Since the lense cover came completely loose on my car, I never put it back.
Works fine without, and can't see any light through the hat shelf.

So what did the dealer say the purpose of the metal casing they removed from your car behind that cover was? When I removed the cover I did notice that metal casing was very loose and not sitting solidly tight but I don't think it was sliding around.

I have not got any metal casing.
The part that rattled around inside the metal beam was made of black plastic. And belongs on top of the lens for the trunk light. This black plastic shield was the part that came loose and that was removed.
On my car there is no metal casing on top of that part.
If I take out the trunk light lens and bulb i can stick my finger inside the metal beam it is attached to, and wiggle my finger freely around inside the beam.
