Default DIY: Interior Trim: doors and glove box panel metallic wrap

I got my UW RRed F sport 350 in November and the fake grey carbon fiber trim has been bothering me ever since...not a huge fan of any checked Carbon Fiber....anyway...so i decided to remove and wrap the interior trim (doors and glove box) in 3M metallic wrap.

ordered from metrosyling.com

then used the plastic trim kit removal tools to remove the glove box fake CF

moving on to the doors, i removed the rest of the panels with the trim removal, its fairly easy, just use leverage....the driver side has 3 phillips screws as well.

Use a small flathead screwdriver to remove the electronic window tabs and harness from the actual trim

so what i did was pre-cut the 3M for each trim panel......keeping the lines longitudinally....length of trim

then i just removed the 3M backing and placed on table and put the panel on 3M sticky.....stretch the wrap around the panel especially around corners and cut the inside out extra with scissors or razor blade.....fold the edges over

Nicely done and an excellent write up. I was curious about doing something similar, but with wood patterened vinyl. Now, if I ever go that route, this will be a great thread to reference.

Thanks for writeup. Although I don't mind the faux carbon fiber, I would wrap mine black instead of going faux metal or wood.

That actually looks good! Tasteful and doesn't take too much away from the interior. Good thinking on matching it up with the brushed finished on the ML unit!

I didn't like the carbon fiber look either upon buying this car. I was used to the dark burl wood trim in my 2IS. But, it's grown on me now.

Btw, could you take a pic of your dash with the ML unit and your glove box in the same pic, and post it pls? I'm curious how the brushed finish looks side by side. Thanks in advance!

Nice work. It suits the Rioja Red interior nicely.
