The rear facing seat looks a little tight but should be ok.

space might be a little bit tight but it's easy to take car seat in and out of the car.

I just picked up a Recaro performance Ride for my 6 month old and it fits in there no problem. My wife is 5'2" and has room to slide seat back with room to spare in the front!

I have a rear facing Graco that snaps into a base. You simply CANNOT put it behind a seat. It has to go in the middle or it will not fit. Well maybe if you have the passenger seat so far forward that you cant sit anyone up front it will.

I just found out #3 is on the way and I actually plan on getting rid of my IS for larger car with 3 rows of seats since there is no way 3 carseats will fit comfortably for my kids.

That picture is deceiving. Show how far the seat is up front. Looks like you have it pushed all the way up where a normal sized person has no leg room.

This is the recaro performance ride.

Rear facing works good with my wife who is 5'2" and can slide back even further.

Some photos both front/rear facing.. the red stitching on recaro match rioja red pretty well at least it will retain the sportiness and the safety

good amount of leg room in front (this is not yet moved all the way back) --

Room to spare to slide back (about 3" or so) --

Cool! But where do the kids legs go when that seat is backwards?

haha looks that way (although recaro is known for a little less legroom while rear facing), i plan to keep him in there to about 1.5-2 and right now his legs are not even at the end of the edge of the seat. He's about 6 months now and 27" tall so should be just right when he's ready to front face.
