Default Road trip, good or bad??

So I'm getting my new is350 fsport on the 10th of next month, I'm thinking about taking it on a long road trip, about 700-800mile one way, is it bad for the new car? Any thoughts

In the manual it says don't take it on long road trip (highway driving) before you break it in (1000 miles)

I was told you shouldn't be driving at the same speed during the break in period (ie, driving 65-80 mph for 800 miles)

Enjoy the trip and time in your new car.

I think as long as you keep varying your speed/rpms and avoid "punching" the accelerator and traveling at very high speeds you should be fine.

Your car can handle it, and I wouldn't worry about the so called break in period (which is so lame). If our new Lexus's can't handle a 800 mile drive brand new - then we all got duped. Have fun, and enjoy the various modes.

I personally think the whole break in period of [not doing] long sustained speeds, is urban legend.

I'm sure all of the rental car companies follow the break-in period. haha. Just drive the car, enjoy it and don't think anything about it.

Just follow the break in recommendations in your owners manual and you'll be fine. They are the guys who engineered, built and warrantee the drivetrain.

I've had 5 Lexus vehicles and have never really done any of those things about the break in, just have not abused it*brand new and I have never had a single problem with any of them. I took both RXs I've had from miami to orlando (about 200 miles each way) when they had less than 500 miles on them. Just don't red line the heck out of the car and it will be fine.

Based on some posts I've read on this forum, the answer to your question might depend on whether you leased or bought your car ....

I bought my car in CA and was moving to AZ in a couple of weeks. Started the drive at 450 miles on the odometer, racked up to 1200 by the time I got the AZ. Car's fine, just be sure not to drive too hard.
