Default Ordered an IS350 2 weeks ago.

Hello. This is my first time special ordering a car.

I'm just curious what the average wait time is for Tri-state northeast area.

Also, how often am I supposed to receive updates from the dealer?

If you ordered the car to be built to your specifications (rather than coming from your dealer's allocation, dealer swap, etcc.), it works something like this:

The car is built about two months following the 20th of the month your car is ordered. Then, it takes about a month to get to the port in the Northeast after leaving Japan, then another week or two to make it to your dealer. So, a total time of three to four months.

My salesman called when the production date was confirmed, date shipped, ship name and estimated date of port arrival. I expect mine around Thanksgiving.

It took 17 days to get my car after it came into port. All depends on how close you live to the port.

I am in the northeast and my special order is taking 5 months. The car is currently in port. As far as updates, I found that very little information was sent to my dealer. Try not to get frustrated as they may not be able to get you information for a few months.

Your dealer will be able to see a confirmation and acceptance of your order. After that, they will get notification that the car is built and awaiting shipment as it will have been put into their allocation by Lexus at that time.

If you ordered the car on Oct. 10 he will have a confirmation around the 20th or later. If you go back in he should be able to tell you if your order has been confirmed. It will give you the build date. After the car is built you will get a ship date and you can also get the ship name and track the ship into port. Once it hits port you will lose a little bit of tracking.

Dealers here in Houston are finally getting 250 F-sports. 350's are all sold before they get to the lot.

There are 350 Fsport's available in the tri-state area, however, just about every car is the typical AWD, Nav and BSM. If you want any other options or RWD, it's a special order.

Congrats on the order, excellent choice

My dealer only received a ship date when the car was in put into their allocation from Lexus. They tried for months to get a build date but Lexus would not provide it to them. All I can say is be patient as the special order process for Lexus is horrible considering the technology of today.
