disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery will work, but you might lose some settings like your clock and memory seats. Another thing you could do is get a cheap battery tender. It keeps a trickle charge on it so that the battery doesn't die when it's not being driven for long periods of time.

Here is a link to the one I would get,

My car battery died tonight. Car was in the garage for two days, unlocked, and wouldn't start. Strange since I've left the car for several days longer in the past and always started.

When this issue would happen is not even predictable, Lexus definitely needs to take in concern and recall to fix this problem. Everyone should buy a self jump starter in case this happens and leads to inconvenience and stranded.

Happened to me this past weekend.

Car wasn't driven Friday. Go to start it up Saturday. Doesn't start and need jump.

Nothing was left on. What's going on here? Any resolution yet? Should I tell my dealer?

Happened to anyone twice? Must we now keep jumper cables in our new cars!?

Just happened to me this Sunday. Left it from Thursday - Sunday in the garage (unlocked). Lexus came yesterday and jumped it, and of course insisted I left something on. 3,000 miles on my 2014 IS350. This is my 8th Lexus and the first issue I've had with any of them. Disappointing, but considering the track record and the fact I'm 5 miles from the dealership it wasn't too big of a deal. That is, IF it doesn't happen again.

This thread makes me worry I'm going to get into my car someday soon and find that it doesn't start =s

Seems like there must be an issue if so many owners on the board are running into it.

No issues since they replaced the battery over 2 weeks ago. I'm really thinking its a battery issue.

I dob't think mine was from a bad batch. After recharging, my battery hasn't drained/died since. And I leave my car in the garage for up to a couple of weeks at a time.

Same here. It's weird. Happened once and not since. My car can sit in my garage unused for up to 3 weeks.

Just Left my 2014 IS 350 (non F sport) in the garage for 7 days unlocked while on vacation and it fired up just like normal when i got home. I am wondering for those with problems if locking the car makes a difference. Maybe the car is using too much battery looking for the key over a long length of time.

Since most of these posts are people with the car going dead I thought it would be important to post a response from a 2014 that is not having the problem. Unfortunately this makes it hard to nail down since not all 2014's are doing it...

update - called lexus roadside to jump start the car. we turned it off and waited a minute and turned it back on but it took a while to turn over so we knew the battery was giving way. drove straight to the dealership and within ten minutes i had a new battery. little to no convincing was needed. there are probably a handful of bad batteries in the new IS'...hopefully this one lasts....otherwise its electrical and that would suck.
