I would like to make some changes with the trim pieces around the steering wheel. I can't get the darn thing off. I popped off the side covers and removed the two small screws. Then I got the two larger screws from back. I assumed at this point the horn/airbag assembly would come out. That is not the case. Does anyone have any knowledge of how this is supposed come off?

Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

 

Ok, my service advisor suggested I try TIS. I got the information I needed and here is what I did with it.



This won't be the final version. I am not completely happy with the way some of the pieces turned out. So I will be re-doing it on the weekend when I have more time and primer. However, I wouldn't mind some opinions. Should I go with all black, all red, stock or keep the color combination I have? The red vinyl isn't DI-NOC and doesn't work quite as well. I couldn't get the small silver pieces at the top to stay covered to save my life. The black is DI-NOC and that stuff is magical. I have some primer on order so hopefully that will help.

I suspect a lot of "go back to stock" and that is certainly an option. The biggest thing that brought me to do this was the feel of the black plastic around the buttons. There is something about the texture that doesn't work for me.

Where did you get these parts?

 

I am not a big one to change anything from stock but I actually love that look. I would keep the colors as you have them on the steering wheel.
