does anyone know what kind of sizes and offsets you can get away with on the new IS? any chance they would be similar to the 2 gen?
I am getting the 2014 IS 350 RWD and although the factory wheel is staggered fitment I would like to get a little more dramatic on the rear wheels as for width.
coming from a Corvette Z06 I am used to 12-13 inch wide tires in back. I don't need them that wide but what is the max you can safely get away with? what offset? I don't think I really want to go any larger then 18 or 19" because of the pot holes we have around here.
and finally what are the factory widths on the stock F sport wheels?
Dont know the size of the F sport wheels but for your other question i'm currently running 19x9+18 front and 19x10+25 rear. I'm planning to go wider but waiting on coils and camber kit. Do you want to do any fender work right now? Fenders are shaped a lil different from the 2IS with the 2Is the most aggressive specs i ran was 19x9.5+20 front and 19x11+26 rear.....

I don't want to change the suspension at all. personally I think lowering the car looks stupid and ruins the look of the car.
I found a thread on CL that talks about an LFA look alike wheel that looks pretty much exactly like what I was looking for.
but I wonder how much wider they are from stock. seems like it is nearly identical to the F sport wheel.
I also don't think they come 10 inches wide, 9.5 would probably be fine. but if I go that size I would go 1 inch less in front.
Glad to see you want to make some modifications to your 3IS. I think the overall look of the car is great and also think this car has great potential to look even better.
Currently I am running 20x9 and 20x10.5, The rear is a little aggressive but I love the look. A friend of mine is running a 20x10 on the rear of his IS and it looks great as well.
I also lowered my car on springs originally but later upgraded to a set of RS*R Sport*I coilovers. They ride like factory.

can you get a closer pic of thoes wheels?
also it looks like the rim sticks out a little wider than the tire, are the tires too narrow for the wheel?
well with the rim that close to the pavement and unprotected thats a great way to curb check a wheel
if either you enter a driveway or even a 2" curb edge at an angle you would chew the **** out of those wheels. i definitely wouldn't do that.
for me its all about function first and reliability looks are important but not if it means they wont hold up to daily driving.
granted. you guys probably live where its flat with a lot of highway. but here with the pot holes those wouldn't last 100 miles before they ended up looking scrap metal!
usually i go for a wider tire and stuff the wheel into it, this way the wheel is protected by the tire. just in case i come too close to a curb.
The rear fenders are now nice and clean from the factory.. No more lip to shave, grind or roll.
But the tapered angle on the fender makes it look a bit odd on aggressive fitting wheels & tires..

Yep you are right about that tapered angle on the fender makes it a lil hard to run aggressive wheels i already figured that out the hard way. I'll be picking up my car today from the body shop my rear was way too low and tire was a lil bit too big but now that the problem is fix i can go a lil crazy in the rear.....

YEUP.... I saw this potential problem many months ago..!!!
Sorry to see this happen already.... Did you take photos of the damage ??
Taking on a full compression at high speeds will create havoc if there is no room for the Rim & Tire to go upward...
Did you have the tapered angle on the fenders straightened or pulled ??
I deleted the pics i took before i got it repaired because my phone was running out of memory lol, the tapered angle is now straightened with a real small pull u can hardly notice, wanted it to look oem as possible a lil tab was there too that we grinded to stop the rubbing....
Since you guys know so much about this I'm hoping one of you can shed some light on my question.
I would like to use below 19" wheels on my stock IS350 F Sport RWD. Any issues? I notced offsets are different on these. Will the wheels clear the brakes and fenders? What tire sizes work best on these? I'm not planning to lower or do any of that sort of mods. Your input is greatly appreciated.
