The 2IS also had them lit... it seems they took that feature away on the 3IS just as they took away the completely perfect LED passenger lamps to replace them with old school bulbs that flash on the driver's face while driving on the night. Lexus needs to put themselves together cause they are making the IS worse instead of better as time passes by...

The footwell lights illuminate when the doors are open but do not stay on when driving. Is there a setting to keep the lights on at night when driving?

Agreed; not sure why one step forward, one and a half steps back w/r/t certain aspects of the car. You'd think they wouldn't 'fix' what wasn't broken...

I feel like this should be an option to turn on or off.

For myself, I would keep them off during driving. Less interior light keeps me focused on the road. :P

That's obviously Lexus' rationale behind it also - more focus on the road.

I prefer ambience lighting such as footwell lights, but to be completely honest, I've been out of my IS for what will be 12 months at the end of December so I'm starting to 'forget' small details such as this.

Will be interesting when my new one arrives in Feb and it all starts coming back to me.

There's a fair bit that I'm not over-the-moon impressed about that Lexus have done to "cheapen" the 3IS (no pop out door storage compartments, no engine bay coverings, no stainless steel scuff plates for rear doors, etc) but the advancement and inclusion of a lot more new technology outweighs most of that to a degree anyway - I'll still be happy (I hope)

Not a fan of ambient lighting but it should have been made an option to turn on/off.
