Default Door panels off or not for window tinting?

Do you guys know if they remove door panels when doing tints on our new IS? I really hope not, because I'm getting mine done this Wednesday. Just don't like the idea about door panels coming off. Thanks

To do it right the door panels come off. The ghetto shops will leave them on though.

Most shops do take them off I don't like it either. Main reason why I don't want to tint.

Sunshield is one of the most highly recommended shops in LA and I didn't see them taking door panels off yesterday.

Here's a video -- How to tint like a pro -- and he doesn't remove the panel -- he uses a device to push the film down.

I got mine done at the dealer because of the warranty. Initially, I didn't want it but the financial manager there gave me a discount, though it was still a bit higher than a 3rd-party shop.

Ditto for me. More $, but any issues, it's on them.

The two shops I've worked with recently don't remove the panels, which I preferred. One is a 3M shop, the other LLumar. The LLumar guy says with the right tools and technique removal isn't necessary.

A good shop and good installer does not need to remove the panels. Don't know how the new IS is built but with the Gen II there was an issue with the tweeters, nonetheless most installers could work around it. It's based on skill and the tools.

In the 16 years I have been going to Sunshield Auto tint they have never removed my door panels. Best tint in Los Angeles. Has been in business for 30 years at the same
Location.

I will take mine in to Lexus, but I was told they have a guy that comes in once a week to do tints for them.

My appointment is Wednesday, I will call in the morning and change the appointment for another day. At the same time, I will ask the dealer if they happen to know if the tint guy takes the door panel or not.

For my 2IS, they first did it without removing the panels. The job was mediocre at best, with a uneven gap on the bottom. I took it back and had it redone with the panels off. No more gaps now

OFF OFF OFF
I have an IS-F, I don't know if that matters. That material the door is made out off is something rather unique to Lexus.
I just got my door panel back after being sent out to Cali to have it fixed. It was gouged by the tint guy from pushing the tint down into the sill, also putting tint on the glass right behind the tweeter on the ML system is a complete pain.
It took 3 months to get it back!
Just take them off yourself 5 minutes at best. It's super easy and just have them tint the windows then put the panels back on.
Just FYI the door panel from Lexus is a crazy 1,600$

depend on how careful you are. it's not hard but there are things that can crack if you're not careful.
